The Challenges As a medical technologist, you play a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Using sophisticated automated equipment and instruments, you will examine and analyse body fluids, tissues, and cells; look for bacteria, parasites, and other micro organisms; analyse the chemical content of fluids; match blood for transfusions; and test for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment. You will analyse the results and relay them to physicians in a timely manner in order for them to confirm a diagnosis or to monitor treatment. You can also expect to contribute towards continuous quality improvement in the department and provide guidance to trainees and students.

- Degree
- Registered with the relevant governing body of that profession, if applicable
- Team player, possess good interpersonal and communication skills
- Patient focus, genuine desire to make a difference
- Demonstrate and articulate sound clinical knowledge and reasoning, critical thinking, judgment and decision making in the provision of care
- Passionate about building a healthcare career, inspired to move ahead with challenges, possess a ‘can-do’ attitude, able to thrive in fast paced environment
