IDA-SingTel iTAP Traineeship

We are inviting fresh graduates or infocomm professionals with less than 3 years of experience, in the area of Network Engineering to apply. Successful candidates will undergo 1 year of intensive training, including professional development courses & certification.

Thereafter, the candidate will be required to serve a one year bond with SingTel, to apply the skills & knowledge acquired.

Training Focus:

This programme allows the trainee to learn to operate a carrier-grade DNS, AAA and storage infrastructure. The trainee will be able to gain insight to various critical component of the infrastructure, such as DNS caching and hosting servers, web servers, mail servers, storage, authentication system, documentation, etc. Most importantly, the trainee will be given opportunity to be in-charge of certain projects and develop their project management skill. An experience staff will be assigned as a mentor to guide the trainee throughout the training.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, implement and operate ISP systems infrastructure such as DNS, SMTP, AAA etc.
• Carry out system capacity planning, expansion, procurement, migration, documentation and maintenance.
• To do application development using programming or scripting language.
• Work with internal customers, eg. Product house and IS to develop new systems to support the Consumer SingNet services.

Requirements:

• A good Degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering / Computer Science from a recognized institution.
• Possess knowledge of computer systems, relational database software, application development will be an added advantage.
• Systems skills and Internet knowledge eg Linux/UNIX, DNS, SMTP, POP, RADIUS, DHCP.
• Programming/scripting skills e.g. PERL, shell scripting, Python, JAVA, etc.
• Has good understanding of Server Farm environment, load testing and load balancing implementation.
• Have strong Project Management and time management skills to ensure timely delivery of projects.
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team.
• Applicants should be either Singaporean or Singapore PRs only.
