IDA-SingTel iTAP Traineeship

We are inviting fresh graduates or infocomm professionals with less than 3 years of experience, in the area of Network Engineering to apply. Successful candidates will undergo 1 year of intensive training, including professional development courses & certification.

Thereafter, the candidate will be required to serve a one year bond with SingTel, to apply the skills & knowledge acquired.

Training Focus:

At the end of the training, the trainee shall be able to operate and manage Cisco switches and routers effectively. The trainee will also be certified for Checkpoint Firewall and has the know-how to manage checkpoints Firewalls. Throughout the 12 months training program, the trainee will be given opportunity to have OJT in implementing IP network changes in Mobile Packet Backbone Network, guided by experienced Technical Staff.

Responsibilities:

• Implement new routing, switching and security policies of the IP core networks serving the mobile network and associated value-added systems. 
• Install or supervise the installation of new hardware in WAN/LAN infrastructure.
• Perform network node administration and security audits on Cisco switches/routers and Checkpoint NG FW-1 firewalls, inclusive of routine preventive and corrective maintenance of the network nodes, so as to implement, test and roll out new mobile-related products and services.
• Provide 24 x 7 2nd/3rd tier technical and operational support to the IP core networks.
• Troubleshoot and perform root causes failure analysis for software & hardware faults related to the network nodes.
• Perform application and testing of hardware and software updates (e.g. Cisco IOS) for the routers, switches and firewalls. This may include liaising and coordinating with the vendors for delivery of new software updates and patches.
• Create and maintain engineering blueprint documentation for the mobile IP core networks and to update the documentation on a continual basis as the IP core networks evolve.
• Perform and coordinate disaster recovery activity expeditiously in times of service disruptions so as to minimize service downtime and revenue loss. 
• Provide engineering support / expertise to Planning and Product Marketing in technical feasibility studies of new products and services, inclusive of fast IP setup for new corporate GPRS customers.
• Review existing best practices and processes for the IP network and introduce preventive or optimized measures to improve the network quality cum resilience in a proactive manner.

Requirements:

• A good Engineering Degree majoring in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong interest in developing IP networking.
• Possess good analytical and trouble-shooting skills in the area of technical fault isolation and rectification.
• Goal oriented with good analytical skill & interpersonal skill and committed to deliver high quality output.
• Pro-active and able to work independently in a dynamic and challenging environment.
